History

The idea to organize a conference aimed at integrating the local and international communities working with fuzzy sets and related topics originated in Rzeszów (Poland), in 2014. Specifically, a group led by Professor Józef Drewniak, including Urszula Bentkowska, Paweł Drygaś, Anna Król, Barbara Pękala, and Ewa Rak, initiated the organization of an international conference at the University of Rzeszów, focusing on fuzzy set theory, its extensions, and applications. The first symposium under the auspices of POLFUZZ was held in Rzeszów, in 2023.

The symposium became a regular forum for the exchange of scientific ideas among communities from Rzeszów, Warsaw, Poznań, Katowice, and Bratislava, although the participants extended beyond Europe. Since 2017, the conference has been organized in cooperation with the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, where the series of seminars is known as Uncertainty Modelling.

The following editions of the symposium took place at the University of Rzeszów:

The 6th Symposium on Fuzzy Sets is the first edition of the conference that takes place outside of Rzeszów.
